The MulteFire Technical Specification Group (TSG), a cross-industry collaboration of representatives from MulteFire Alliance member companies, is developing Release 1.0.

Initial deployments are targeted at the global unlicensed 5GHz band and the shared 3.5 GHz band in the U.S. MulteFire is based on 3GPP Release 13 LAA for downlink and Release 14 eLAA for uplink. It specifies an LTE-based radio link and end-to-end architecture, including interworking for neutral hosts. The Alliance’s goal is to develop next-gen technology that is widely adopted in global standards, and the TSG is working to ensure close alignment with the existing 3GPP specifications.

Release 1.0 is targeted for completion in Q4 2016 and the Alliance is targeting to deliver a certification program in 2017. This program will be critical for enabling a robust MulteFire technology ecosystem.
